PROVEM-PRO Bank

PROVEM-PRO is a data bank under development, built on voluntary and collaborative participation.
It aims to better understand what truly matters to people living with cancer.

Why was the PROVEM-PRO bank created?

In Quebec, data from patient-reported measures (PROMs and PREMs) in oncology remain limited, fragmented and poorly harmonised. This situation hinders the development of robust knowledge about the real-life experience of patients and its integration into research, practice evaluation and decision-making.

The PROVEM-PRO database was created to address this need and provide Quebec with a sustainable infrastructure dedicated to patient-reported data in oncology. Ultimately, it aims to build a large-scale provincial database combining PROMs and PREMs with clinical and medico-administrative data.

This approach will provide a comprehensive, longitudinal understanding of the cancer patient experience, particularly with regard to quality of life and treatment-related adverse effects, in order to support the development of policies, clinical practices and interventions that are truly focused on what matters to patients.

Data governance and ethical framework

The PROVEM-PRO database is based on a rigorous governance and ethical framework designed to ensure the protection of participants and the responsible use of data.

All participating patients will give their informed consent to:

  • the secondary use of their PROMs and PREMs data,
  • access to their clinical and medical-administrative data,
  • and to be contacted again for future research projects.

All projects using data from the PROVEM-PRO bank will be carried out under the responsibility of the PROVEM platform. Individual data is never shared with the platform’s clients or partners; only aggregated and anonymized analyses are produced.

How can you contribute to the PROVEM-PRO database?

The PROVEM-PRO database is currently under construction and relies on the collaboration of healthcare professionals, patients and associations to ensure broad, voluntary and representative participation.

Clinicians and pharmacists

Clinicians and pharmacists play an essential role in the deployment and promotion of the PROVEM-PRO database.

  • Inform patients about the existence of the database and its objectives
  • Invite them to participate on a voluntary basis
  • Share the QR code providing access to the questionnaire (when it becomes available)

Your involvement directly contributes to broadening the scope of the database and enhancing the quality and diversity of the data collected.

Patient associations and patient partners

Patient associations and patient partners are key intermediaries in promoting inclusive, experience-centred participation.

  • Disseminate information about the PROVEM-PRO bank to your networks
  • Encourage patients to participate by sharing the QR code
  • Support an initiative to make the voices of oncology patients heard
